Description

Melotte 15

This column of gas is the heart of the Heart Nebula. It’s the result of the stellar winds of nearby giant stars pushing on the gases from all sides.

This is the result of 24 hours of data collected over 3 separate nights in different locations. I was lucky enough to spend one beautiful night under dark skies in the #methowvalley in northern Washington. It’s my first attempt at a narrowband image using the same color palette as the #hubblespacetelescope. The orange/red represent hydrogen-alpha and sulfur-II gas emissions, while the blue is oxygen-III gas. I really enjoyed taking my time capturing this one. Let me know what you think!
